چکیده
Background Multiple Drug Hypersensitivity (MDH) was first described by Sullivan et al in 1989 as drug allergies to two or more chemically different drugs proven by in-vivo or in-vitro testing. Pichler et al added to this description by suggesting that there are two subtypes of MDH: one where sensitisation to different drug classes may occur simultaneously; the other, sequentially sometimes even years apart.

Introduction: Olanzapine (Zyprexa) has become one of the most commonly prescribed atypical antipsychotic drug in Iran, at least in part due to its low potential to cause extra-pyramidal side effects. Case: A 54-year-old man, who was a known case of schizophrenia from 10 years ago and within the recent years, was under periodic medical treatment by antipsychotic drugs. Conclusion: Neurologi...

متن کاملSevere cutaneous reactions to drugs in the setting of a general hospital*
BACKGROUND Cutaneous drug reactions are frequently found. Assessing the clinical and epidemiological profile of severe forms is extremely relevant for their better recognition and management. Few studies have assessed the severe forms of cutaneous drug reactions in patients hospitalized in our setting. OBJECTIVES To assess the clinical and epidemiological aspects of severe cutaneous adverse r...
متن کاملSuccessful treatment of antiepileptic drug hypersensitivity syndrome with intravenous immune globulin.
Intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) has proved beneficial for severe immunologically related cutaneous adverse reactions. We report a child with severe antiepileptic drug hypersensitivity syndrome who was successfully treated with IVIG. IVIG should be considered in the pharmacologic armamentarium of severe antiepileptic drug hypersensitivity syndrome. antiepileptic drugs, hypersensitivity, immun...
